ASVAB Career Exploration Program<\/h1>\n

NHS ASVAB Test \u2013 <\/u><\/strong>Thursday,\u00a0 March 7, 2024<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

The ASVAB Career Exploration Program (CEP) will be administered on\u00a0Thursday,\u00a0 March 7th<\/sup> <\/strong>in the PAC at 9:15 AM.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 There is no charge to take this test.<\/p>\n

You must register\u00a0to take the ASVAB Test through SignUpGenius<\/a>, as there will\u00a0be no\u00a0other area\u00a0to sign-up. \u00a0Deadline to register for the test is <\/strong>Friday<\/strong>, <\/strong>March 1st<\/sup><\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Program At-a-Glance<\/h1>\n

The ASVAB Career Exploration Program provides high-quality, career exploration and planning materials at no cost to high schools throughout the country. The Program encourages students to explore a wide variety of careers, rather than limiting their exploration by telling them what they can or should do. Schools receive a comprehensive career development program that meets the needs of today\u2019s students, based on current career development theory and practice.
\nWhat are the Main Components?<\/p>\n

Multiple-Aptitude Test<\/strong>
\nThe ASVAB test covers eight areas including science, word knowledge, mathematics, and mechanical comprehension. It assesses a student\u2019s ability to learn new skills and is a predictor of success in training and education programs.<\/p>\n

Interest Inventory<\/strong>
\nThe FYI is a 90-item interest inventory based on John Holland\u2019s widely accepted theory of career choice. When students complete the FYI, they have three interest codes to use with the OCCU-Find for career exploration.<\/p>\n

Career Exploration Tool<\/strong>
\nThe OCCU-Find contains information about 400 + occupations sorted alphabetically, by interest code, and by career cluster providing students a variety of ways to identify occupations that will be satisfying. The online version links directly to O*NET and OOH job descriptions, and even the military career equivalents. Many of the occupations in the OCCU-Find feature career videos highlighting a-day-in-the-life glimpse at that occupation.<\/p>\n
