IB Mission Statement<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.<\/span><\/p>\n

To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.<\/span><\/p>\n

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.<\/span><\/p>\n

The aim of all IB programmes is to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

IB learners strive to be:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Inquirers<\/strong> They develop their natural curiosity. They acquire the skills necessary to conduct<\/span><\/p>\n

inquiry and research and show independence in learning. They actively enjoy<\/span><\/p>\n

learning and this love of learning will be sustained throughout their lives.<\/span><\/p>\n

Knowledgeable<\/strong> They explore concepts, ideas and issues that have local and global significance.<\/span><\/p>\n

In so doing, they acquire in-depth knowledge and develop understanding<\/span><\/p>\n

across a broad and balanced range of disciplines.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thinkers<\/strong> They exercise initiative in applying thinking skills critically and creatively<\/span><\/p>\n

to recognize and approach complex problems, and make reasoned, ethical<\/span><\/p>\n

decisions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Communicators<\/strong> They understand and express ideas and information confidently and creatively<\/span><\/p>\n

in more than one language and in a variety of modes of communication. They<\/span><\/p>\n

work effectively and willingly in collaboration with others.<\/span><\/p>\n

Principled<\/strong> They act with integrity and honesty, with a strong sense of fairness, justice and<\/span><\/p>\n

respect for the dignity of the individual, groups and communities. They take<\/span><\/p>\n

responsibility for their own actions and the consequences that accompany<\/span><\/p>\n

them.<\/span><\/p>\n

Open-minded<\/strong> They understand and appreciate their own cultures and personal histories, and<\/span><\/p>\n

are open to the perspectives, values and traditions of other individuals and<\/span><\/p>\n

communities. They are accustomed to seeking and evaluating a range of points<\/span><\/p>\n

of view, and are willing to grow from the experience.<\/span><\/p>\n

Caring<\/strong> They show empathy, compassion and respect towards the needs and feelings of<\/span><\/p>\n

others. They have a personal commitment to service, and act to make a positive<\/span><\/p>\n

difference to the lives of others and to the environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Risk-takers<\/strong> They approach unfamiliar situations and uncertainty with courage and<\/span><\/p>\n

forethought, and have the independence of spirit to explore new roles, ideas<\/span><\/p>\n

and strategies. They are brave and articulate in defending their beliefs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Balanced<\/strong> They understand the importance of intellectual, physical and emotional balance<\/span><\/p>\n

to achieve personal well-being for themselves and others.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reflective<\/strong> They give thoughtful consideration to their own learning and experience. They<\/span><\/p>\n

are able to assess and understand their strengths and limitations in order to<\/span><\/p>\n

support their learning and personal development.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme is a challenging two-year curriculum, primarily aimed at students aged 16 to 19. It leads to a qualification that is widely recognized by the world\u2019s leading universities.<\/span><\/p>\n

Students learn more than a collection of facts. The Diploma Programme prepares students for university and encourages them to:<\/span><\/p>\n

Schools teach the programme in English, French \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and\/or Spanish.<\/span><\/p>\n
