Obtain applications from schools to which you are applying by November 1 and complete the application in its entirety.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 9pt;color: #000000\">Students should refer to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www-nhs.stjohns.k12.fl.us\/records\/\">Student Transcript Procedures<\/a> to view or request copies of their transcript.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 9pt;color: #000000\">All applications require an application fee and this should be submitted with your completed\u00a0 application. \u00a0If you apply online this fee can be paid with a credit card or mailed directly to the college or university.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 9pt;color: #000000\">Most college applications require an essay. \u00a0The college essay is a critical factor at most colleges. \u00a0Follow directions, stay on topic and proofread.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 9pt;color: #000000\">It is courteous to give at least a two week notice to any person from whom you are requesting a recommendation. \u00a0It is also courteous to provide them with a stamped addressed envelope if universities are using the postal system. \u00a0\u00a0This procedure also applies for colleges that have their own recommendation forms.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 12pt;color: #006600\"><b>Important Facts to Remember<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 9pt;color: #000000\">Early Decision is binding. \u00a0If you are admitted under an Early Decision Program, You must withdraw all other college applications. \u00a0You should only apply Early Decision, if that college is truly your first choice.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 9pt;color: #000000\">Early Action is not binding. \u00a0You will just be notified at an earlier date.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 9pt;color: #000000\">Rolling Admission mean that applications are evaluated and acted upon as they are completed.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 9pt;color: #000000\">Upon admission to any college, <b>other than Early Decision,<\/b> you have the right to defer your decision until May 1.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 9pt;color: #000000\">ACT\u2019s are given at Nease on designated Saturdays. \u00a0<b>Prior registration is required. \u00a0<\/b>You can \u00a0register online for <b>SAT at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.collegeboard.org\/\">https:\/\/www.collegeboard.org<\/a><\/b><b>\u00a0or ACT at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.act.org\/\">https:\/\/www.act.org\/<\/a>. <\/b>You may also pick up a registration packet in the Guidance Department. \u00a0Our school test code number is 100729.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 9pt;color: #000000\">SAT ll\u2019s are required by some schools for admission and\/or placement purposes. \u00a0Be sure to check at the schools to which you are applying to find out their requirements.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 9pt;color: #000000\">You are allowed five excused absences due to college visits. \u00a0Be sure to sign up via Naviance and print the confirmation page to use as your pass to leave class.\u00a0 Most college visits take place in the media center classroom.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 9pt;color: #000000\">Pay attention to deadlines! \u00a0There are many deadlines in the college admission process! \u00a0Don\u2019t let missing an important deadline effect your enrollment.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b Scholar\/Bright Futures requires 75-100 hours. \u00a0There is not a service hour requirement for graduation. \u00a0All service hours are due to your counselor no later than January
